The Ins And Outs Of Laptop Chargers

By Mark Mesa

If you wish to take care of your precious laptop and ensure that it operates for a longer time, then, you should treat all parts of the laptop with care. This does not mean your laptop alone, but also includes the laptop charger, the cords, and even the external mouse. A laptop charger is not only a device with a cord and plug to use as you like; it is the external heart of your laptop, so that you can keep the laptop battery charged always, and ready to use whenever you need.

You have two ways to provide power for most laptop computers: a battery and a cord that connects it to an outside electrical source.

Keeping the laptop plugged into the electrical source will keep it running, when unplugged and running on battery, the battery will begin to run down. This can happen rather fast on an older model, and if the computer is in use, a good battery will run for perhaps a few hours. Most laptops have a light that will warn you when you are running on the battery.

If the battery is removed from the battery, a battery charger cannot store power in it; but the charger can still operate your laptop.

In most cases, the charger for a laptop or a desk top computer, will have a cord that plugs into the wall outlet, this cord attaches to the power box and the power box attaches to the computer. The power box usually has a light to let you know that it is plugged in. Then the laptop or desktop will have either a light or an icon that lets you know the power source is properly plugged into the charger. This will keep the battery charged up.

If you charger happens to fall and break or fries out during use (due to high voltage fluctuation), you must need a back up immediately, as without the same you cannot recharge your battery, which will drain out with in hours of using the laptop. Once a computer shuts down like this there is nothing you can do to revive it, except with a laptop charger. Sometimes, due to defect in the cord or the charger pack the battery charger suddenly stops functioning.

Not all laptop chargers would suit your laptop. It has to be compatible to your laptop to work properly. Your immediate need would be to get in touch with the manufacturer of your laptop and get details from them about the proper charger to be used. It would also be easier to do an on line search to get the most compatible charger for your brand and model of laptop.

If your laptop is used constantly for your job, you may want to get a charger to have on hand as an extra. It is not a real expensive item, and it could save you a lot of downtime when having your laptop running perfectly is essential.
